ActionAid International is seeking an experienced and driven Philanthropy & Partnership Fundraising Lead to join its global Fundraising and Communications team. This is a permanent role based at one of ActionAid’s Global Secretariat hubs, with Nairobi, Kenya being a primary location.

ActionAid International Kenya (AAIK) is one of the first global affiliates of the federation and has a strong presence across 16 counties in Kenya, working in solidarity with women and communities living in poverty and exclusion.
The Philanthropy & Partnership Fundraising Lead plays a central role in growing and diversifying ActionAid’s Philanthropy and Partnership (P&P) portfolio. The role holder will support both Federation and Global Secretariat objectives by securing new high-value funding relationships and managing existing philanthropic partnerships.
This position requires an experienced international fundraiser with an entrepreneurial mindset, strong relationship-building skills, and a passion for developing innovative funding strategies that advance ActionAid’s global mission.
- Develop and implement strategic fundraising plans to grow the Philanthropy & Partnership portfolio
- Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with high-value individual donors, philanthropic foundations, and corporate partners
- Identify and pursue new funding opportunities from trusts, foundations, and the private sector
- Manage proposal development, donor reporting, and stewardship processes
- Drive significant increases in global media, social media, and brand coverage for ActionAid’s humanitarian work
- Collaborate closely with global and regional teams to align fundraising strategies with programme priorities
- Support Federation and Global Secretariat-level fundraising objectives
- Design and implement entrepreneurial approaches to achieve and exceed fundraising targets
- Monitor fundraising performance and provide regular progress reports to senior management
- Represent ActionAid at external fundraising events, conferences, and networking forums
- Significant experience in Philanthropy & Partnership (P&P) international fundraising, ideally within an international NGO
- Proven track record in securing major gifts, trust and foundation funding, and corporate partnerships
- Strong proposal development skills with demonstrated ability to develop and implement entrepreneurial fundraising approaches
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills
- Self-motivated with strong interpersonal skills and ability to mentor and coach others
- Ability to work across cultures and time zones in a global organization
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field required; Master’s degree preferred
- Strong commitment to ActionAid’s values, feminist leadership principles, and SHEA safeguarding policies
- Fluency in English — both written and spoken
- Eligibility to work in Kenya or another ActionAid country office location
