How can you make a difference?
- The Nutrition Specialist (wasting, humanitarian, refugees) supports the development and preparation of the nutrition programme, with particular focus on child wasting including in humanitarian settings and is responsible for managing, implementing, monitoring, evaluating, and reporting the programme progress within the country programme.
- The Nutrition Specialist provides technical guidance and management support throughout the programming processes to facilitate the administration and achievement of concrete and sustainable results child wasting programmes/projects.
- This is carried out according to plans, allocation, results based-management approaches and methodology (RBM), as well as UNICEF’s Strategic Plans, standards of performance, and accountability framework.
- The position is responsible for wasting prevention and treatment, including nutrition in humanitarian context, supporting local solutions including for lifesaving nutrition supplies and increase availability and access for children with severe acute malnutrition.
Minimum requirements
Education:
- Master or equivalent (Advanced University Degree) in Public Health, Epidemiology, nutrition, global health, health policy, health management, health sciences, health research, nutritional epidemiology and any other related fields.
Work Experience:
- At least 5 years of relevant work experience in Nutrition, wasting prevention and treatment, planning and management, policy making, humanitarian response, refugee programs, program management, emergency preparedness. and any other related fields.
Skills:
- Public Health, Humanitarian, Monitoring and Evaluation, Management, Prevention Planning, Treatment Planning.
Language Requirements:
- Fluency in English is required
Desirables
- Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
- Nutrition in emergencies experience, refugee response experience, experience with RUTF supply chains, experience in child wasting program management, UN system experience
- Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.
