Job Summary:
The Intern will support CRS’s scope of work for the Core Group Polio Project. Under the supervision and mentorship of the Program Manager and MOH staff, the intern will assist in coordinating project activities in Nairobi County. This role is designed to provide practical exposure to public health programming, disease surveillance, and immunization initiatives, while offering structured mentorship and supportive supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in coordinating and implementing community and health facility-based CGPP project activities in line with CRS program quality principles, donor requirements, and good practices.
- Contribute to monitoring and reporting challenges or gaps identified, supporting adjustments to plans and schedules.
- Support accountability by assisting MOH in collecting and analyzing project data, and in preparing reports per established schedules.
- Provide logistical and technical support for capacity building activities with County and Sub-County MOH staff.
- Assist in project documentation, including case studies and reports on promising practices.
- Maintain supportive working relations with government ministries and stakeholders to coordinate the adoption of new approaches in polio eradication.
- Participate in technical working groups and forums to stay updated on new developments in immunization and disease surveillance.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the internship, the intern will:
- Gain practical experience in public health programming and project coordination.
- Develop skills in disease surveillance, immunization program support, and community mobilization.
- Strengthen understanding of the Government of Kenya’s health policies and guidelines.
- Enhance capacity in project monitoring, reporting, and documentation.

Supervisory Responsibilities-
Key Working Relationships:
- Internal: Health team Project Lead, Program Manager – Health, CGPP HOA Staff, CRS MEAL, and Finance teams
- External: CGPP Secretariat members, GoK (Nairobi County) staff, polio project stakeholders, community members
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Medicine, Nursing, Public Health, or related field.
- Exposure to disease surveillance, immunization programs, or community mobilization through coursework, attachment, or volunteer experience will be an added advantage.
- Experience using MS Windows and MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
