Responsibilities:
- Tracks, researches and analyzes information related to Africa Hall’s historical legacy and institutional role, ensuring accuracy and alignment with official UN narratives.
- Drafts/compiles specific type or types (e.g. print, broadcast, etc.), of information communications products for target audiences, to include press releases, media packets and reports, brochures, briefings, video clips, newsletters, websites, etc. including briefs, brochures, web content, talking points, and reports, in line with UN communication standards.
- Organizes the clearance, production and distribution of information material; conducts photo and graphic research.
- Prepares, on the basis of official UN documentation and other sources, initials drafts of articles or chapters for inclusion in UN newsletters, periodicals, reports and books in relation to the Africa Hall.
- In consultation with others identifies and proposes information opportunities, activities and approaches, taking into account the situation/topic and target audience.
- Identifies key contacts/constituencies and opportunities for strategic partnerships with diplomatic missions, donors, international organizations, cultural institutions and other target groups to facilitate messaging related to Africa Hall activities.
- Organizes or participates in the organization of conferences, seminar, press briefings, interviews, etc.; prepares briefing materials for senior officials prior to their participation in events held at the Africa Hall
- Responds to a variety of inquires and information requests internally and externally; concerning Africa hall’s heritage.
- Contributes to the collection and analysis of data as well as identification of trends or patterns and provides draft insights through graphs, charts, tables and reports using data visualization methods for data-driven planning, decision-making, presentation and reporting.
- Supports through coordination of a consistent and high-quality visitor experience, including guided tours and official visits, through well-prepared background materials and briefing notes
- Provides day-to-day oversight and guidance to staff and personnel working under the Visitors Center, including supporting work planning, task allocation, workflow coordination, and quality assurance for visitor services and related outputs, in line with applicable UN rules and procedures.
- Contributes to the collection and analysis of data as well as identification of trends or patterns and provides draft insights through graphs, charts, tables and reports using data visualization methods for data-driven planning, decision-making, presentation and reporting.
- Documents requirements and background information used for data analysis.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Education:
- Advanced university degree in communications, journalism, international relations, public or business administration, or related field (Master’s degree or equivalent) from a recognized institution is required. A first level degree (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in the specified fields of studies with two additional years of relevant work experience will be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in marketing, data analytics, business analytics or data science programs is an advantage.
Experience:
- A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in public information, journalism, international relations, public administration, marketing or related area is required. 1 year or more of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.
Languages:
- English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this job opening, English is required. French is desirable. The table below shows the minimum required level for each skill in these languages, according to the UN Language Framework.
