These are your responsibilities

  • Lead country specific BD activities, coordinating with Senior Business Development Manager, Country Director (CD), Programme Manager (PM), Institutional Donors & relevant technical leads (i.e. Initiatives) to increase institutional income for CBM.
  • Develop and maintain donor & consortia partner relationships in country of presence.
  • Engage directly with contacts, represent the organisation & participate in network & alliance meetings, events & forums.
  • Prepare visitors (ex. CEO, Directors, Initiative experts) for donor engagement (ex. German Embassy)
    Documenting and analysis of intel (via salesforce).
  • Actively pitch CBM capacities, track record and project ideas within such engagements. Identify opportunities and scan horizon for new strategic prospects.
  • Lead Country Office level prepositioning and business development pipeline analysis to identify new opportunities, track the status of applications, and support strategic discussion on revenue/financial growth, advising CD and PM proactively.
  • Working with respective leads from ID, Initiatives & CO, coordinate in-country stakeholders along the funding process, ensure timely completion & submission of high-quality proposals that meets donor expectations, including the verification & accuracy of supporting documents. Ensure that lessons learned (AAR) are revisited in advance.
  • Assessment of project portfolio and pipeline, work with PDI to support screening and development of new implementing partners for LCDF growth Input into Country Strategic Planning.
  • Contribute towards knowledge management of BD resources, ensuring the content is accessible to stakeholders across the organisation.
  • Actively contribute to BD team wide dynamic and learning.
  • Roll out capacity-strengthening of BD practice across countries, fostering lateral learning

These are your qualifications

  • Minimum professional experience 8 years in international and/or national NGOs and/or multilateral or government agencies, with a proven track record & relevant networks in the field of inclusive social protection.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing internal & external relationships & official representation, particularly with government, international institutional donor agencies & other relevant stakeholders in the field of social protection.
  • Previous working experience with funding organizations such as BMZ, EU or USAID.
  • Proving knowledge in institutional funding requirement & procedures such as BMZ, EU or USAID.
  • Proven experience in results-based management & project cycle management, including assessment, monitoring & evaluation of international development programmes in multimillion projects.
  • Experience of developing rights-based programmes & working with marginalised & vulnerable groups.
  • Person with lived experience of disability is advantageous.
  • Excellent interpersonal & intercultural skills & teamwork.
  • English & national language (Ex. French, Amharic Professional Proficiency).
  • Proficient in MS Office package.
  • Well-developed analytical & complex problem-solving skills, with a solution-based approach.
  • Experience-driven knowledge of the development sector & critical cross-cutting themes such as gender mainstreaming, inclusion & advocacy.
  • Ability to prioritize & manage demanding workloads.
  • Ability to present complex information in a succinct & compelling manner.
  • Excellent communication (both verbal & written) & presentation skills.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills including influencing, negotiation & coaching.
  • Highly organized, with an appreciation of meeting reporting commitments.
  • Demonstrated learning agility, pro-activeness & openness to embrace new technologies at work
  • Identification with CBM’s mandates & values.
